This is an example of the Multi Level Cascade Field, used to display car brand and model, depending on the year of manufacture.

This cascade is configured with following properties.

We assume following items have been setup

  • A database source 'igrid_test'
  • A table VehicleModelYear - containing the basic values

##############################
# Define the levels which makes up this custom field.
#--------------------------------------------
mc.levels = year, make, model

##############################
# Define where the data is stored.
#--------------------------------------------
mc.ds=jira

##############################
# First level - list of years known in the database
#--------------------------------------------

level.year.query = select distinct year from VehicleModelYear order by year
level.year.query.ds = igrid_test

##############################
# Second level - list of makes made in a particular year. The placeholder for a level is *LevelName.ColumnName*
#--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
level.make.query = select distinct make from VehicleModelYear where year = {year.year} order by make
level.make.query.ds = igrid_test

##############################
# Third level - list of models which are available for a specific make and year
#--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
level.model.query = select distinct model from VehicleModelYear where year ={year.year} and make = {make.make} order by model
level.model.query.ds = igrid_test
